Agenda
Coastal and Freshwater wetlands provide many free services to our communities, including shoreline protection and flood storage. They also inspire debate and confusion among developers and local governments regarding how and where land development can occur.
This event is designed for local elected and appointed officials, local government staff, developers and realtors. Workshop topics include the value and function of wetlands, wetland regulations, and wetland restoration case studies. The workshop will also include a presentation on the NC Wetland Assessment Method (NCWAM).
The workshop will feature a field trip to a coastal wetland for experience in identifying wetland plant species and delineating wetland boundaries, so please dress for the weather. Experts from regulatory agencies will participant in a question and answer session regarding wetland regulations.
